My name is Dr. Stephanie Nardi, and I am the principal at Western Valley Middle School (WVMS) in Phoenix. As a Title I school, we are dedicated to serving our students and families with the highest level of support, especially those who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds or have experienced trauma. I am writing to introduce myself and to share an exciting initiative we are pursuing to build a positive culture of learning and school pride at WVMS.
As part of our efforts to strengthen our school community, we are looking to train a certified school therapy dog, which will play an important role in providing emotional support to our students. Research shows that therapy dogs can have a tremendous impact in schools, especially for students facing poverty and trauma. They offer comfort, reduce anxiety, and create a calm, nurturing environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally.
In our school community, where many students face significant challenges outside of the classroom, a therapy dog could serve as a valuable resource. By helping to reduce stress and build positive connections, this initiative aligns with our broader goal of ensuring that all students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
The cost for the training of a therapy dog is $4,995, and I am reaching out for financial sponsorship. Your support would help us make this vision a reality and demonstrate your commitment to the well-being of our community’s students. In return, we would be honored to publicly acknowledge your business’s generosity, whether through signage, school events, or our online platforms.
I sincerely believe that with your help, we can create a more welcoming and supportive environment for the students at Western Valley Middle School. Thank you for considering this request. I would be happy to provide more information or meet with you to discuss this partnership in greater detail.
Ideally, we would like to have the funds to start training as soon as possible to have the dog on campus for the start of the 25-26 school year.
